AssureCKD Team Spotlight

Can you share a bit about your background and how your experience in scaling startups influences your role here?

I spent the first decade of my career intentionally working across industries, functions, and company stages. I started at McKinsey supporting large-scale mining and tech operations for enterprise companies, then joined Uber during its hyper-growth years working on global strategy as the company scaled from 2,000 to over 20,000 employees. From there I moved even smaller to building and scaling startups, first as a consultant, and then as COO at SafetyWing, where I helped grow the team from 5 to over 200+ people and raise >$50M as a fully remote global tech company.

Across all of those roles, the throughline has been the same: bring clarity, set up simple systems that help people do their best work, and build for scale from day one. That’s exactly how I try to support AssureCKD, keeping us focused on what matters and helping turn a strong product into a repeatable, scalable engine.

What made you interested in joining AssureCKD’s mission at this stage of its growth?

Working on a mission that genuinely matters has become increasingly important to me. CKD is massively underdiagnosed, and early detection changes people’s lives. When I saw that the team had built a working prototype and proven real clinical interest, but needed help turning that traction into something scalable, it felt like the perfect moment to contribute.

It’s the stage I enjoy most: when the problem is real, the solution is emerging, and the company needs operational lift to reach the people it’s meant to serve.

What lessons from your previous roles at McKinsey or Uber have helped you navigate healthtech’s complexity?

From McKinsey: how to simplify complexity without losing accuracy. Healthcare is full of nuance, so being able to cut through noise and identify the essential next step is key.

From Uber: how to scale systems fast without breaking trust. That balance: moving boldly while staying thoughtful about regulation, safety, and quality—maps directly onto what we’re building here.

What has been the most fulfilling part of working with a purpose-driven startup like AssureCKD?

It’s the mix of mission and team. We’re small, talented, and values-driven, and you see the impact of your work immediately. Every improvement brings us closer to catching CKD earlier for people who would otherwise slip through the cracks. That kind of direct, meaningful impact makes the work deeply fulfilling.

What challenges do you see in balancing innovation speed with regulatory and clinical rigor?

It’s always a balancing act. We want to move quickly, but in healthtech you can’t cut corners. For us, the key is creating processes that let us learn fast while still meeting clinical and regulatory expectations. Clear ownership, simple decision frameworks, and close collaboration between product, clinical, and operations help us move at a healthy pace without compromising on quality or safety.

What’s your vision for how AssureCKD can scale its impact over the next few years?

I see AssureCKD becoming the go-to early detection platform for CKD; trusted by clinicians, seamless for patients, and easy for health systems and partners to adopt.

Over time, I believe we can help shift CKD detection from something reactive to something genuinely proactive. If we execute well, we won’t just diagnose people earlier; we’ll help reshape how the healthcare system approaches chronic disease altogether.
