AssureCKD Collaborators Awarded CIHR Project Grant for Development of Advanced Point-of-CareKidney Test

AssureCKD is proud to announce that key scientific collaborators Dr. Claudio Rigatto and Dr. Francis Lin, along with colleagues Dr. Chris Bohm, Dr. Ann Sokoro, and Dr. Navdeep Tangri, have been awarded a prestigious Project Grant from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). The three-year, $765,000 grant will support the continued development of a dual- marker point-of-care test for the rapid assessment of kidney health.

The funded project, “Development of an accurate, easy-to-use, dual marker GFR and ACR-based point-of-care test for rapid assessment of kidney health status,” aims to improve early detection and monitoring of chronic kidney disease (CKD) by integrating lab-quality glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and albumin-to-creatinine ratio (ACR) measurements into a compact, user-friendly device.

This grant places the project among the top 10% of applications submitted, a huge achievement for the team.

“We are thrilled to see CIHR recognize the importance of bringing lab-equivalent kidney diagnostics to the front lines of care,” said Harrison Ross, CEO of AssureCKD. “This grant will play a critical role in advancing the underlying technology behind MATLOC and moving us closer to making early CKD detection accessible and affordable in everyday clinical settings.”

About AssureCKD

AssureCKD is developing MATLOC, a lab-equivalent diagnostic platform designed to screen, diagnose, and monitor chronic kidney disease at the point-of-care. By enabling rapid, accessible, and cost-effective testing in primary care and decentralized settings, AssureCKD aims to increase screening rates and facilitate earlier intervention, ultimately improving outcomes and reducing expensive healthcare costs.
